Assignment 14: Halfway Reflection

Image
Well we are now half way through ENT3003. So I guess it's tie for some advise. Lets see what skills have I needed for this course... Well in all honestly resilience. It is really easy to read the assignments and not want to do them, but in the end that can really bite you in the butt. This class is a 100 points and yeah we get extra credit, but for students like me who are not near campus, that is not really an option. So, I have had to buckle down and do my work. Because having to get a W or F in this class would honestly be just sad. Honestly when you feel like giving up or not doing something, there is really nothing here I can say to get you to get moving and do it. It honestly boils down to being a personal motivation. I am a bad procrastinator and I get depressed like everyone else. Sometimes life problems get in the way, so does time management. Getting schoolwork done for myself as always been a battle, but I have learned how long it takes me to get things done and som...

Assignment 13: Reading Reflection, Number 1

So for my reading reflection I went with the Wright Brothers. Why not? They build airplanes and got them to fly right? Well I did learn some interesting things that I didn't already know, so lets get into it. 1. My most surprising thing for me was learning that their first patent was not actually for the airplane, but for the three-axis control that they build. This is what allowed them to turn the plane, and is actually the invention that they created that furthered our ability to fly. 2. I think the thing that I admire most was their determination. The fact that they climb a hill as many times as possible so that they could test their inventions and gains skills to become pilots. I guess that would include that I admire their courage too. I don't know if I could throw my self off a hill and see if I could fly. 3. I personally didn't find anything to really not admire about them. I guess I was a little disappointed do find that either of them receive their high school ...

Assignment 12: Figuring Out Buyer Behavior, Number 1

Greetings everyone, so for my company Leafy Lifestyles we would be looking at the market segment of home owners. So for my interviews I looked for people who owned a home. For the most part they talked about how they don't really do anything in particular for the environment. Two of them of them did talk bout how they use the recycling unit that their local trash service offers, which was just a separate bin that they have out next to their trash for things like plastics. One of the also talked about how they tried to use fabric bags instead of the plastic. All of them stated that if there was other way to help that they would like to though. They did talk about how they do try to buy product that don't intentionally harm the environment, but with some packaging and with certain materials, it is hard to get around it. All three brought up a concern with price though, as alternative can be expensive when they are looking at changing methods of production that is already in p...

Assignment 11: Idea Napkin, Number 1

Image
Me: Hey guys! So I guess it time to kind of introduce myself again. So lets start with "talents". Honestly I don't think I have any of the normal talents. I am not really good at drawing, I can't play an instruments. I have been told that I am good at writing and telling stories through, so I guess for this I will say that my talent is coming up with ideas. My aspirations are to be able to work in recovery programs for big cats; which would involve rehab centers, repopulation programs, and habitat loss solutions, along with zoos. Which would explain why my idea involves the environment. It would be cool if this became an actual business and I would be willing to donate time and energy to it, but it would defiantly be a change in the plan. Offering:  With Leafy Lifestyles, we are offering a eco-friendly alternative to the products you buy every day. By offering things like linens, candles, soaps, and even air filters. This company is about making your home and eco-...

Assignment 9: Testing Hypothesis, Part 2

Who:  For my serves there are going to be people who do not really care about the environment. Being that we live in the South and being in Florida with all of the states efforts that go into the conversation of our ecosystems. I personally had a bit of an issue trying to find  people that completely don't care about the environment in anyway shape or form.    So for one of my interviews I talked to someone who is into hunting. Personally they don't particularly care about the environment, but they did care about the areas and the numbers for the particular species that they enjoyed hunting. They only really working with population number though and wondered about how this effects themselves.   Most of what I got from my interviews was a once again a lack of education on the topic, a confusion for how this effects them personally, and why they should personally care. What:  One of the interviews asked the question of me that how is this going to actuall...

Assignment 8: Solving the Problem

My opportunity has to do with invasive species. These are species that are introduced to an area that is not of their origins and then proceed to cause damage to that environment. Environmentalist are of course working on this problem as it is within their field of study. Organizations like the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service also work at trying to handle this problem. I feel that we need to work more with the populous and not just with specialists. Some of my ideas: One is a project that me and a group worked on that I discussed briefly is an easier post. It is a service called Leafy Lifestyles. It was a company that we as a group wanted to be about using invasive species to produce product for the everyday user. The prototype was an online website that would be where we sold our products out of. We started with our first product being an air filter made out of paper mulberry which is actually invasive in Gainesville.  Another thing we could do would be to create a website ...

Assignment 7: Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

Invasive species are introduced into environment where they have no natural predators, as these species grow and reproduce they are killing of the natural environment that they have invaded.  The Who: Invasive Species The What: These plants and animals are introduced into environments and then are slowly killing off the natural environments. The Why: They have no natural predators in these knew environments, so they slowly take over. Testing the Who: This is a problem around the world. Mind you the invasive species are different for every environment. For example, anacondas in the Everglades compared to cane toads in South America which is the anacondas natural environment. Testing the What: The biggest problem with this is that we don't want to effect the species natural environment or population to the point of extinction. We want to just remove the species from the area they do not belong. Along there is also a problem with the fact that we have to create plan of act...
