Assignment 15: Figuring Out Buyer Behavior, Number 2
For this assignment we are back to talking to potential buyers for our business ideas, so for me and Leafy Lifestyles we are back to talk to homeowners, or people who need to buy home goods.
I am going to do this by first answering the question that we needed to answer because all of my interviewees ask roughly the same thing.
So everyone said that price does matter. All of them they are on some kind of a budget, but they did say that if the product was really good they maybe wiling to step outside of the cheaper products. So quality of the product really did matter to them. It helps to dictate what they are willing to pay for at the end of the day. They did discuss that style does matter. In this case we are talking about someones home, which usually relates to being an extension of who someone is as a person.
Of all of my interview they discussed that it depends on the products that they are looking at on where they would buy them. Online for many of them seemed like the easier option, but somethings you do want to buy in a traditional store. So I gave them some examples of products that I am thinking about selling.
1. The first interview said that if a product didn't everything they expected and was durable made it a good purchase. But if the purchase was made cheaply and broke easily then it was a bad purchase.
2. Was a very interesting perspective about this, because they stated that they didn't really see any purchase as bad, because even a product that didn't quite work for them showed that just wasn't something they were going to buy again. They did say that they don't rebuy products that are not durable.
3. A good purchased is buying something you need and is useful. Impulsive buys or quick shopping usually end up in bad purchases because you end up with thing you don't need.
Overall it seems that my buyers are looking for products that are durable for the home and well made. If the product is affordable that is great, but if it is a product they really like they are willing to pay extra for it. And style does matter, because a home is suppose to be something that they are living in and should express themselves as an individual. And passed on buying platform really depends on what I am selling to them. I really thing that this information was actually really helpful as we move forward with this class.

- Candles: most said that unless they already knew the smell would prefer to buy them in the traditional store settings, so that they could smell the product before hand.
- Air filters: As long as they were the traditional measurements they didn't see why they would not look into buying them online.
- Linens: this was an either way kind of thing. No one has really an issue buying them online, but are just use to the classical setting, where they can feel the sheets. So understanding how they are suppose to feel mattered to the buyers.

Hi Kaitlyn. I agree that the potential buyers for your product will be people looking to purchase home goods. The results of your interviews were informative. It makes sense that price matters to your potential customers, and not surprising that a high-quality product would help ease price concerns. Moreover, it appears that your segment prefers to purchase in a traditional storefront, although they are open to the idea of online shopping. For home goods, it makes sense that they want to see the product in person. One suggestion I have is to ask the segment if a customer-friendly return policy would encourage them to purchase more goods online.
ReplyDeleteHey Kaitlyn,
ReplyDeleteI agree with the interviews that quality and convenience are major factors in the purchasing decision. Unless you are targeting very low income people, typically most consumers are more willing to pay a small increase in price for a large gain in quality or convenience.
