Assignment 14: Halfway Reflection
Well we are now half way through ENT3003. So I guess it's tie for some advise.
Lets see what skills have I needed for this course... Well in all honestly resilience.
It is really easy to read the assignments and not want to do them, but in the end that can really bite you in the butt. This class is a 100 points and yeah we get extra credit, but for students like me who are not near campus, that is not really an option. So, I have had to buckle down and do my work. Because having to get a W or F in this class would honestly be just sad.
Honestly when you feel like giving up or not doing something, there is really nothing here I can say to get you to get moving and do it. It honestly boils down to being a personal motivation. I am a bad procrastinator and I get depressed like everyone else. Sometimes life problems get in the way, so does time management. Getting schoolwork done for myself as always been a battle, but I have learned how long it takes me to get things done and sometimes I need that last minute crunch to give me the motivation I need. I have also found that the anxiety of failure can be really helpful. But I can promise that there are just going to be days when you sit at the computer for hours and nothing gets done. But that's okay. Just keep at it. Sometimes it's slow. And maybe you have a system that others just don't understand. If its working for you great! If it's not you need to look into something else.
Alright some tips.
1. Read the assignments at least at the beginning of the day if you are going to wait till Friday. Each assignment is different and will take a different amount of time for you personally and you need to be aware of the time needed before it's 11pm and you are down to the wire.
2. If you can get into a good group chat I would suggest it. It gives you a community that if you are confused or needing help right now then there is someone else.
3. Remember you can contact the instructor and TA's if you are having a problem.
Here is a picture of me and my friends hanging out playing dnd! Thanks for tuning in everyone. See you next week.

I agree with everyone has their own way of studying. Last year I did not do as well as I wanted to because I left everything to the last minute which showed in my grades. Throughout all of my school life I grew up doing all my work somewhat last minute and still get good grades. But that all changed going into University. This year I have completely changed on how I approach my classes. I do everything ahead of time and give myself time to study a lot longer than before. And so far my grades have been doing really well. Changing how you study is important, you have to find what works best for you.
ReplyDeleteGreat post and great picture, Kaitlyn! I agree with Brandon in that we need to find our own formula and need to do it quickly here at UF! I felt actually inspired in reading your post as I could related to some of what you described. It does get hard sometimes...
ReplyDeleteI find myself struggling in school, so I do need to work on my time management!
Great job!
Hi Kaitlyn. I agree that resilience is a skill needed for this course. I know I needed it to get through some of the assignments. As you said, personal motivation is what it comes down to for completing work, no one can make you start the work you choose not to do. Moreover, I agree with you that you just must keep at it for eventual progress. I know there’s days where I get stuck on homework and it takes a while. One recommendation I have for making progress on difficult assignments is to take a break and set an alarm for a time to return to the assignment when your mind is refreshed.
ReplyDeleteHey Kaitlyn,
ReplyDeleteI definitely think that resilience is important as there are a decent amount of assignments to do and keep up with. I think that you also have to really have an interest in this course for you to find enjoyment in doing the assignments. It is easy to want to procrastinate if you don't care for the work. I think that time management is definitely the biggest skill that you need to be successful in college.
