This might not originally seem like a problem but the article is working to try and solve one. Due to the fact that Wakulla is mostly a drive through as you ride on 98 or 319, the county does not receive a whole lot of outside tourism. The tourism it does receive is at these few locals, but the area has more to offer to the people if they take a second to look.

  1. Hey Katie,
These are great to read about and it appears that there are even some innovation opportunities that could come from some of them in creating the thing to better predict hurricanes or a non profit to assist low income families in creating wealth. I would suggest taking more time to brainstorm through the people that problems affect. By identifying everyone in that pipeline you can determine who you need to create a solution for and who you need to influence to allow for the opportunity to impact. For example the hurricane solution not only involves the people that will be impacted by a hurricane, but also will have to involve the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Hunters, local governments, weather forecasters, and state governments.

  2. Hi Katie,
You provided good insight into the problems and opportunities surrounding Leon County. It is disappointing that there isn’t much upward mobility for many residents. Perhaps the institutions that are central to the economy and life in Leon County need to develop a joint solution, working to coordinate their efforts to provide the best outcomes for residents. Regarding Wakulla County, I find it interesting that a place with such nature doesn’t receive more tourism. I agree that the lack of tourism might be because many might not know what the county has to offer. Maybe a strong promotional campaign could change the perception of the county.

  3. Shalom Katie, before we delve into the depths of your post, I first wanna say how much I appreciate your communication to the reader before you really get started. Believe it or not, most of the blogs I have seen have not done that. In regards to your opportunity list, the Hurricane tracking method one really stood out to me simply because of our personal experiences with them as Floridians. I also found the article about the pretty water primrose; it reminds me of the invasive fish who's damages directly parallel that of a primrose's: a lion fish. Lastly, regarding your first post, I always believe that problems need to be confronted head on and a change in leadership is always a sure-fire way to shake things up.
